These are a few of my fav’rite fall things . . .
(Corniness warning to readers: you must sing this poem to the tune of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music. Go ahead. You know you want to.)
Crisp Fuji apples with carmel to dip in
Bonfires in backyards while watching the leaves spin
Woodsmoke that lingers on clothing and clings
These are a few of my fav’rite fall things
Bright, sunny mornings, upcoming Thanksgiving
Stars on my iPod, my soundtrack for living
Sipping hot cider or chai while I read
These are a few of my fav’rite fall things
When the kids gripe, when I’m lonely, when I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my fav’rite fall things, and then I don’t feel . . . so bad!
Robert Frost’s poems bring fall inspiration
Wearing wool sweaters and hiking creation
Playing more soccer while pine needles sing
These are a few of my fav’rite fall things
When the kids gripe, when I’m lonely, when I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my fav’rite fall things, and then I don’t feel . . . so bad!

aaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!!!! I love it! And I DID sing it! Though what a copout to make the chorus basically the same. I dunno. I think you could have been more creative!
October 25, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Hehe. Well, I had a slightly different chorus, but then it didn’t seem to make sense, so I changed it. It read: “When the kids gripe, when I’m lonely, when I’m missing you; I simply remember my fav’rite fall things, and then I don’t feel . . . so blue!”
Do you like that one better, Miss Critic?

The inmates are running the nuthouse!

Yes, I do like that much better. It doesn’t make sense though, of course, because you just saw me, and I’m the only person you could POSSIBLY be missing. How about:
When the kids gripe, when I’m lonely, when I’m full of stew;
I simply remember my fav’rite fall things, and then I don’t feeeel so blue!
Yes. Stew is where it’s at.

When the kids gripe, when i’m lonley, when i don’t have a clue;
I simply remember my fav’rite fall things, and then i don’t feel… so blue!

Ummm… just a few more fun suggestions:
when everythings a zoo
when i have nothing new
when i it’s so bad i ponder sniffing glue
when i crave a mountain dew
when i have the flu
when bradley smells like poo (or you could insert Sophie)
When i need to use the loo
when i’m not sure what’s true
I’m sure there are so many more, but i must go brush my teeth before i go to the dentist
It’s a great song jen!

also, leave it to katie to come up with the one line involving food!

HEY NOW!!! Listen. I like to eat, it’s true. Leave it to you to come up with the line of “poo”! hahahaha
