Happy Birthday Jen!

Jen’s birthday is today! We had a fantastic party yesterday and celebrated with all of our friends. (Pics forthcoming). She still has some surprises left today, but pictures will be posted soon.

UPDATE: Thanks to my adoring public, I have felt the urge to put some pictures up. However, I did not approve of most of the pictures taken of me, so I have found 2 for your viewing pleasure. The third is of what was going on behind my back while presents were being opened. Apparently Sophie was very interested in dessert.

If you check back very soon you will see a brand-new (Yes folks, that’s BRAND NEW) update about senior survival which is coming up this weekend. Up until now there hasn’t been much exciting stuff to take pictures of. But be prepared for the deluge…. :)

It was a dark and stormy night. Slowly I turned . . . Wait a minute–no! It was actually a blistering hot summer day and Jennifer’s parents were in the delivery room from around 6 a.m. until she gave up the fight at 9:39 p.m. And eight days late at that! Her birthday was SUPPOSED to be Aug. 19!

I am happy to concede that Mrs. Payne has, over the years, developed a much more cooperative spirit, and carries out her projects with a great deal more alacrity. Of course, she still has the same red hair we saw at 9:39 p.m., Aug. 27, 19xx.

    Congratulations, Jennifer!

    Must have pictures!!!

Are these birthday pictures “to be posted soon” possibly in the form of daguerrotypes waiting to be picked up from Mathew Brady’s studio in downtown Washington?

  4. Jason says:

Sophie was actually interested in the hamburgers I had grilled!

  5. Katie says:

Oh, come on. You know you look great in your J.Crew shirt!

while it is true the photographer is no professional, i fear that the subject of many of the pictures may just be too demanding of “perfectionism” :) and not see the real beauty shining through in each photo of the birthday subject.
